My experience this week was my most exciting and happiest of all of my weeks observing and finally teaching at Kennedy. This last week I started planning for my very first lesson I would be teaching to the class. I began researching and planning my lesson on one and two step equations and I could not say this before but I am sure when I got in front of the class I had never been happier. Teaching the class and building connections with the students made me feel the happiest I have ever been. I am finally starting to learn names and faces and connecting with the students.
I read and looked over the 15 traits articles and I am picking hard working and passionate for my traits. Those two traits relate to my experience this week. However my experience was very interesting because my employer was out of town from Wednesday to Friday. I did not have very much to do for her not being there for me to shadow her teach lessons. However she assigned the students work sheets 4 worksheets on Thursday. So on Thursday I decided to do the worksheets myself. I wanted to be able help the students if they needed help on the worksheets or had any questions I would be able to help them. I believe by doing these it shows that I am passionate and willing to work hard to achieve my goal of becoming a teacher. I believe that, by taking this step shows I am willing to learn and show I am hard working and passionate about becoming a teacher in my future as my career.
Usually I am always on time to my job at Kennedy. I am pretty good on time management or so I believe I am. My employee is pretty laid back and as long as I let her know if I am going to be late she is mostly okay with it. As long as it is not an everyday thing or that I do not do it often. if I am late a day or two out of the month that is okay. If i come late to my job is says I am not responsible with time or some may say "I don't care about my job." I am very grateful for my opportunity to shadow Mary Jo McGuire at Kennedy. If I am very late I will have a very good reason. I would not jeopardize being on time to a job/ field experience I am so lucky to have. The article says being on time is 5 minutes early and on time is late. I do not believe that is always the case. If you are on time at the time you are suppose to be there you should be able to be on time and not be late. Say you work at 4 and you go to work at 4. How are you considered late if you are scheduled at 4. Not every employee knows that "rule" or standard. My employer is very laid back but also knows how to get work done and make sure everything is going good, being on time is very important due to the fact that if you are late then you have less time to finish tasks. |
