My experience this week was a little hectic personally. As I am still recovering from a head injury it was a little difficult to get back into the flow of things. I took it easy and helped out by organizing taking attendance and grading papers. It was easy but since it was difficult to concentrate on certain tasks but I got through them to the best that I could. I also helped the students out with class choosing and answered any questions that they had about classes they should take and what classes that wouldn't fit them well based on their personal experiences and personalities. That's one great thing I loved about this weeks experience is guiding them and learning about them as a person and not just a student.
During my experience this week at kennedy I got to help out more. I began to take notes and follow the steps of the lesson that Mrs.McGuire is teaching to the class. I helped students with questions about the homework and helped them with a review assignment. I also got to grade papers and talk to students about their grades and missing work. Being able to help the students with their classwork and homework. One thing I love is seeing them start to understand the topic it makes me feel so great and want to continue becoming a teacher.
During my experience this week I learned more about how to organize assignments and tests into a binder /folder. I also graded weekly progress quizzes and practice quizzes. I had a conversation with Mrs.McGuire about when I graduate and eventually have my own classroom. She gave me some gifts and old teaching things she said she wouldn't use and said I could have for when I have my own classroom. It made me so happy to receive the gifts and supplies she gave me. I appreciated them so much and I can not wait to use them in my own classroom some day.
My experience this week at Kennedy was still fun even though I didn't do much. During the week the students learned about equations and systems. They took a check up on Thursday and studied and review for the check up on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Friday the students all went to the computer lab to look up classes that they could take freshman year at Lake Shore. They students got to ask my questions about certain classes, for example Medical, Principles of Leadership, Fitness Condition, etc.. I got to know more about them and their interests. It felt amazing to connect with them and talk with them about high school and answer their questions about high school such as lunches, schedules, teachers, and what classes to take. Of course I recommenced for them to take CFE their senior year ;)Week 3 at Kennedy Middle School, was short but pretty fun, I got to spend a lot more time getting to know the students and with Mrs. McGuire. We had our Christmas party on Monday and we had some amazing snacks and food. We watched a movie called Christmas with the Kranks. The students had mad cookies and candy and brought it cupcakes and brownies and other treats. I got to sit down and talk to a lot of the students and talk to them about college and high school and answer the questions they had for me. It felt so amazing to see the glow on their faces and hear the dreams and achievements they want to make in their futures. Mrs. McGuire even surprised me with a thoughtful, amazing Christmas present. It made me happy that she even thought to buy me something. I am so thankful I have this opportunity and to have these amazing relationships. Week 3 was one of the best weeks yet.During my field experience this week at Kennedy, I began to help Mrs.McGuire plan a christmas party for her students. Organzing a list of students of what to bring and who was going to bring what. We decided the christmas party would be Monday the 19th. The students got to pick a Christmad moive to watch on the day of the party. It was exciting to see all of the planning that goes into planning a Christmas party for her students. Besides planning the Christmas party, Mrs. McGuire showed me how to graded certain assginments and add them into the grade book. She also allowed me to write some emails to teachers for her and help students in the classroom with the warm ups and homework. My experience this week at Kennedy Middle School, was an amazing one. It felt great to come back after finals and being working with a new set of students again. I am learning all of their faces and names. Some faces are new and some I have learned and had experiences with in 1st tri. I have met some amazing students and learned so much more aout other students I had previously. I am also getting the hang of learning new skills teachers use to help them stay orangized and how to stay organized. I am so glad I have this CFE to help me get into the field and get back into the classroom with her students.
